Laure is a graduate of Phillips Academy, Andover, Barnard College, and New York University's graduate writing program. She has an MFA from James Madison University.

She works mainly in oil and acrylic. Though settled in Lexington, Virginia, she has spent several years in Asia, particularly South India.  

She has taught at the Kodaikanal International School in India, and as visiting assistant professor of studio art at Washington and Lee University.
